How we price a job, what is included, and what you approve before we start.
Pricing is by volume: how much space your items take up in the truck. Tiers run from a small minimum pickup up to a full truckload, with quarter, half and three-quarter load levels in between. Which tier you land on is measured on site, in front of you, before anything is carried out, and the pricing page lists the exact figures.
By volume, against a truck that is 6 feet wide, 8 feet tall, and 18 feet long. Not by the hour, not by the item, and not by how many trips up the basement stairs it takes. The crew sizes the load and gives you one number.
Yes. Every job has a minimum pickup charge that covers the truck, the crew and the disposal fee, even for a single item. The exact figure is listed on our pricing page, and you will hear it before we start.
Labor, loading, hauling, and disposal are all in the number. No fuel fee, no stairs fee, no charge for crew size or trips to the truck.
One thing: heavy material. Concrete, brick, and roofing shingles weigh several times what household junk weighs per cubic foot, and the landfill charges us by the ton, so those loads can carry a surcharge. We work that out while quoting and tell you the number before we load, never on the invoice afterward.
Only if the pile does. The quote is locked before we touch anything. Add something on the way out and we stop, re-measure against the truck, and write a new number for you to approve first.
Yes. We come out, look, and hand you a firm price. Turn it down and we drive off. There is no charge for the trip and no follow-up calls.
Yes: 10% for seniors and 10% for veterans. Tell us when you call and the discount is already in the number the crew writes down.
Seniors and veterans each receive 10% off the removal price. Mention it when you book and bring ID when the crew arrives. There is no separate form to fill out, and the discount comes off the price you were quoted on site rather than being worked out afterwards.
We accept cash, check, and all major credit and debit cards. Payment is collected after the job is complete and you have approved the work. There is no deposit or upfront payment required to secure your appointment.
Yes. We accept cash, credit card, debit card, business checks, and Cash App. (We do not accept Venmo.) Payment is collected after the crew completes the job and you have approved the final on-site price. Nothing is collected upfront.
Getting on the schedule, how fast we can be there, and changing a booking.
Use the online booking form or call us directly. Enter your address, the items you need removed, and select a date and time. We will send a confirmation and the crew will call you before arrival. The whole process takes about 2 minutes to complete.
Same-day junk removal is available on most days when you call before noon. Availability depends on the crew schedule for that day, and we will confirm immediately when you call. If same-day is fully booked, next-day appointments are almost always available.
Yes. Same-day junk removal is frequently available throughout Louisville and Jefferson County when you call before noon, Monday through Friday 8am–6pm or Saturday 8am–1pm. When same-day is fully booked, next-day appointments are almost always available. Haulaway is locally owned. When you call, you reach Blake and Brennin's crew directly.
Yes, someone needs to be present to approve the price and show the crew what to take. We provide an upfront quote on arrival and you approve the number before any work begins. No payment is collected until the job is done and you are satisfied with the result.
Yes, cancellations and reschedules are free of charge. Please call us at least 2 hours before your scheduled appointment to free up the slot for other customers. If your plans change on the day of service, calling as early as possible is appreciated. There is no cancellation fee for any booking.
The items we haul every day, from a single piece to a full property.
Haulaway removes furniture, appliances, mattresses, hot tubs, electronics, construction debris, yard waste, garage contents, estate cleanout items, and light demolition debris including shed and deck teardowns. We cannot haul hazardous materials such as paint cans, propane tanks, motor oil, or chemicals. Not sure about a specific item? Give us a call and we will confirm before you book.
Both. Haulaway handles everything from single hot tubs, pianos, and exercise equipment to full property estate clearing. Small single-item removals are booked and priced just like larger jobs. Full-house cleanouts are common, but so are targeted pickups for the one thing taking up space.
Refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, ranges, microwaves, water heaters, air conditioners, window units, dehumidifiers, trash compactors, and more. If you are unsure whether we remove something, call and describe it.
Yes. Broken refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves that don't work anymore. Metal goes to area recycling facilities where it's processed and reused.
Yes. Broken TVs, computers that don't turn on, old monitors with cracked screens, all of it. If it's electronic and you don't want it anymore, we haul it.
The short list of exclusions, and what to set aside before the crew arrives.
Loose household hazardous waste is the main exclusion: paint, propane tanks, motor oil, chemicals and similar items need specialty disposal. Drain the fuel from any gas-powered equipment before the crew arrives. Nearly everything else is standard.
Those we cannot take. Paint cans, propane tanks, motor oil, pesticides, and pool chemicals have to go through household hazardous waste. Set them aside and the crew handles everything else.
Yes, we're equipped and trained to handle the refrigerants, coolants and oils inside appliances properly. They are disposed of according to EPA and state environmental regulations, which matters most for older appliances that may contain ozone-depleting substances. Loose household hazardous waste such as paint, propane tanks and chemicals is not something we can haul.
We can work with suspected asbestos materials, but we'll note it carefully for safe handling. Cost and timeline may differ. Call to discuss your specific interior demo needs.
Hard drives and sensitive electronics should have data wiped before removal. We don't handle data destruction, but area recycling facilities have certified processes for secure data handling. Ask them about certified e-waste protocols.
What the crew does when they arrive, and what you need to do first.
The crew comes inside. Blake and Brennin's team moves everything out for you. You do not lift a finger. We navigate hallways, stairs, and tight spaces. Labor, loading, and standard access are all included in the price. If anything unusual affects the job (extreme access, added scope, or specialty disposal) we explain it before you approve. We use pads to protect floors and doorways.
No. The crew carries it out. Point at what goes and it gets loaded, whether that is in a basement, a back bedroom or a detached garage. The quoted price covers the labor, not just the haul.
No. The crew pulls it all out, you make one pass and point at what stays, and anything staying goes back in before we leave.
We can absolutely work around that. Point out what you want to keep and we'll load out everything else. If you have items you think might be valuable or sentimental, let us know and we'll discuss your options.
Yes. We navigate stairs, doorways, and tight spaces safely. If your basement has unique access challenges, mention it on the call so we can plan the job properly.
Not if we can help it. Banisters, casings, and plaster get padded before the first piece moves. These houses have original trim and the crew treats it that way.
Most houses take one full day. Very large homes or heavily packed houses might take longer. We confirm timing when we quote the job. Most standard residential jobs wrap up in under two hours.
Donation, recycling, and what actually happens to your load.
Usable items go to local donation centers whenever they will take them. The rest goes to the landfill. We don't haul to a specific named facility; the load determines the destination based on condition and material type. All recycled and donated items come out of your space.
We sort everything after pickup. Items in usable condition go to local donation centers when possible and where accepted. Metal and scrap go to recycling facilities. Other materials go to area recycling or disposal facilities where accepted. We cannot guarantee specific outcomes as facility acceptance varies.
Metal goes to area recycling facilities with the capability to process ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Copper, steel, aluminum, and other metals get sorted and recycled into new products.
Where we run and when.
Often yes, if you call before noon. Mon–Fri 8am–6pm, Sat 8am–1pm. When today is booked, next-day is almost always available.

Call before noon and same-day is usually available. We run Louisville, St. Matthews, Middletown, Jeffersontown, Prospect, Lyndon, Germantown, Shively and out to Shepherdsville, La Grange and Buckner: Monday through Friday 8am to 6pm, Saturday 8am to 1pm.
Recurring accounts, jobsite debris, and multi-property work.
Yes. We work with contractors and property managers on regular schedules. Repeat accounts get priority scheduling and consistent pricing.
Yes. We handle multi-property cleanouts and maintenance debris for property managers. Volume and regular work get priority scheduling and account pricing.
Pricing depends on volume and debris type. A single-room renovation cleanup costs less than a full house gut job with multiple rooms, heavy materials, and extensive demo waste. We quote per-project based on what we see.
Heavy materials are always a surcharge: concrete, brick, roofing shingles, asphalt, stone pavers, old HVAC units, and water heaters. Hazardous materials (asbestos, lead paint, fuel tanks) we do not haul. Always confirm material type upfront.
Call us before noon and we can usually get there same-day for emergency debris removal. We understand construction schedules and project deadlines.
Who you are hiring.
Yes. Haulaway Junk Removal holds a Junk Haulers license and carries insurance, and proof of insurance is available on request. Blake Ackerson and Brennin Scherpf own the business and run it with their own crew, so you are not dealing with a franchise call center. On larger jobs one of the owners or a project manager is on site.
Call us or book online. Tell us what you need removed and where you are located. We confirm pricing ranges and lock in a time. On the day of service, the crew gives you a firm on-site price before starting. You approve before any work begins. Most residential jobs wrap up in under two hours.
